Chords part 1

Modulating chord-progressions & improvisation:

Find the root and order of the chords in the exercise, playing rootnote, other chord tones ( third , fifth, etc ) or use a scale.
Focus on the bas, it’s often playing the root.
Play phrases that defines the chords and modulations in the exercise.
Use chord tones or scales.

Listen to the chords while you are improvising.

Tonic - in new key: 1. step

Incomplete dominant seven in the old key: 2. step

Dominant - in old key: 5. step

All chords are notated as tetrads, but can be extended ( 9th, 11th , etc )       

 

All modulations are using the 2-5-1 cadence.
The first scale fits bar 1 & 4 - the lower scale fits the modulation in bar 2 & 3
